WVU Web Services provides the following:

  • Consulting advice for all WVU departments and groups. Please contact us for an appointment at 293-5305 or write to Web_Services@mail.wvu.edu to begin a design for your department’s Web pages. This is the first step to beginning a design or redesign of any WVU Web pages. Web Services works to help you through all the planning stages for your new web pages.
  • Management of college home pages, WVU official pages, and owner of the MIX with collaboration from the Office of Information Technology.
  • Management of the New Student Communication Portal in collaboration with Student Enrollment Services.
  • Management of the main calendar for WVU.
  • Participates as part of the Information Security Program with special emphasis on education and awareness of information security.
  • Graphic design services and guidelines for graphics & suggested formats.
  • Help for web developers throughout the University on technical and graphics issues.
  • Creation and management of official WVU sites.
  • Recommendations in planning pages for all University groups.
  • Web site design & production services.
  • Sharing information and expertise in “best practice” methods for developers and webmasters including accessibility issues.
  • Administration of the communications on MIX.
  • Contact for the WVUwebmaster@mail.wvu.edu account.
  • Designs in templates for departments and colleges.
  • Support for the WVU Intranet and the WVU Web site.
  • Advice and recommendations concerning e-commerce questions and procedures and participatory in the E-Commerce Review Board.
  • Sponsors of the WVU Web Developers Group.
  • Support for technical issues for University Advancement and Marketing.
  • Information concerning the use of the WVU logo.
  • Support to recruiting efforts.
  • Develop and manage the Blog software application.
  • Develop, revise, and maintain the SimpleForms application.
  • Manage the accounts for the Intranet and Internet sites at WVU.
  • Manage the WVU Downloads site and processes.
  • Create and support database applications related to University Advancement and Marketing.
  • Create new applications as needed that provide services for many University groups including an online campus tour, a new campus map, and other applications yet to come.

Web Services is a part of University Advancement and Marketing and is dedicated to promoting the image of West Virginia University and providing current information to users of the WVU Web site and MIX.
